ADUR Astronomical Society Inaugural Meeting Report - 22 May, 2008
We had almost a full attendance of people from around the Sussex district and other areas. Illustrated talks were given by Ed Sampson, Janet Young and Brian Halls, all from the Worthing Astronomical Society.

Hon Chairman Sir Patrick Moore
Trevor Little, Sir Patrick Moore & Robin Durant at the inaugural meeting of the Adur Astronomical Society
These were followed by a presentation by Pete Lawrence, leading international Astronomical Imager and writer for 'Sky at Night' magazine, who entertained the audience with his talk and fantastic images. The evening was highlighted by the attendance of Sir Patrick Moore, our Honorary President, who thanked Robin Durant and Trevor Little (the society's chairman and secretary) for setting up the Society and congratulated their aims to encourage the public and local schools to learn about the beauty of astronomy; he commented that the future of astronomy lies in the hands of youth. He also reminded us that next year will be the "International Year of Astronomy".
Our thanks go to Ed, Brian, Janet & Pete for their talks, which were delivered in a most interesting and professional manner. It was a wonderful evening which was enjoyed by all, and resulted in 32 membership application forms being completed and a few coppers in the bank to enable us to launch our club. Thank you to everyone who gave us support and helped us on the evening.
